Frequently Asked Questions

1

How long has this service been running and who is it for?

The service was created in 2011 in the Czech Republic. It is an online forum where the users can share their experience with phone numbers, both annoying (mostly telemarketing, surveys) and useful (e.g. couriers, offices)..

Since the beginning, the service has been received very well, which led to localization into more languages. Nowadays, the forum exists in more than 20 languages and 34 countries throughout the world.

The service is intended for anyone who wants to identify the owner of an unknown phone number. The creators of the forum have also recently created the mobile app Call Insider for Android phones. This app, which is connected to the database of the website call-reverse-lookup.com, also allows users to automatically block telemarketing numbers.

2

What can the users learn about a number that is calling them?

Users can find the reviews of the phone number written by other users, the interest in the phone number in the last month and, if possible, its location (for landlines). Sometimes, there are no reviews for a given phone number. If, however, the page has e.g. a thousand views, it shows that it is most likely an annoying caller.
3

What does “number of views” of a phone number mean?

It is the number of visits of a given page. Only one access from a particular device is counted per day. Moreover, we try not to have this number artificially increased by bots (search engines). So it is a unique number of views of the page by real visitors.
4

Who creates the database and how is the trustworthiness of the comments ensured?

The phone number database and ratings are created by the users themselves. They can add their reviews either through the website or through the Call Insider app.

Comments are posted by the users of the website anonymously, so it is not possible to ensure their 100% trustworthiness. We, of course, get requests to remove comments on phone numbers stating that they are a tool of competition and they have been fabricated. We, therefore, reserve the right to delete comments or even disable comments for a particular number.

Every user can deactivate any comment until the moderators deal with it. Just click the bin icon in the bottom right corner, fill in a short form and confirm the email address where a statement on how the moderators dealt with the comment will be sent.

5

Is the forum moderated?

The discussion on phone numbers is partly moderated. The forum gets thousands of new posts daily, so it is not possible to check every single comment. Therefore we pay attention mostly to suspicious and reported comments.
6

My comment has disappeared or has been edited, why?

We edit and delete comments for the following reasons:

  • We are informed that the comment contains signs of illegal actions and these actions can be determined on the basis of general awareness.
  • We are informed that a given comment contains personal data according to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  • We are notified that the comment is vulgar or abusive.
  • We receive a request from the police to take the comment down.
  • We receive a court order to take the comment down.
7

How can I report an inappropriate comment?

Every user can deactivate any comment until the moderators deal with it. Just click the bin icon in the bottom right corner, fill in a short form and confirm the email address where a statement on how the moderators dealt with the comment will be sent. The processing of such a request usually takes 1-2 weeks.
8

What should I do if I want to delete a comment on a phone number?

In case a comment contains derogatory language or claims that can generally be regarded as lies, inform us via email at call-reverse-lookup.com@ or by mail at our address:

P.O.Box 272
Kurzova 2222/16
155 00 Prague
Czech Republic

In case it is obvious that a given comment is not true or is derogatory, it will be removed. In other cases, contact the police who have to investigate whether the comments are illegal. The forum operator will fully cooperate in such an investigation. As soon as the police or a court confirms their illegality, we will be able to remove the comments.

9

The comment has been deleted but it is still on Google. Why?

Google and other search engines (Bing, Yandex...) have their own memory, so their results do not always correspond to reality. It will take some time until the search engine reindexes and shows a relevant preview of the page. It usually takes weeks to months.
10

Can you give me the IP address or some information on the author of the comment?

Adding comments does not require a registration. Comments are added by the site visitors completely anonymously – we do not require a name or an email address.

We do not save readable IP addresses of posters either, only encrypted. We are, therefore, able to determine that for instance two comments were sent from the same device, but we are unable to provide a readable IP address.

11

Who is responsible for the content of the posts?

Only the posters are responsible for the comments they post in the forum. The operator is obliged to remove a comment only if they have been demonstrably informed about its illegal content.
12

Is API available?

Unfortunately, we do not provide API with the service and we are not planning to.
13

What should I do when my phone number is on this website against my will?

If you find out that your phone number is shown on this website, you can ask us to remove it using our email or mailing address.

P.O.Box 272
Kurzova 2222/16
155 00 Prague
Czech Republic
(call-reverse-lookup.com@)

We reserve the right to ask you to provide documents proving that you are the owner of the phone number.

14

I entered a valid phone number but the system declined it as non-existent. What should I do?

If you think the number is correct please do not hesitate to contact us at call-reverse-lookup.com@. We will do our best to correct the error.
15

Why are some comments hidden?

When we receive a request to remove a comment, this comment is automatically hidden until we process the request. This is to remove the comments with inappropriate content as quickly as possible (e.g. hateful comments, bullying, comments containing personal information etc.)
16

Why can’t I report a comment?

If we have deemed a request to remove a comment unsubstantiated, we do not allow repeated reporting of the same comment until a time limit passes. If you insist it should be removed, you can contact us at our email address call-reverse-lookup.com@ or by mail at:
